Daewon C.I. Establishes Itself as a Leader in Online Publishing Thanks to 'Webtoons and Web Novels'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Daewon C.I. has established itself as a strong player in online publishing this year by launching a large number of popular webtoons and web novels.
Daewon C.I., a subsidiary of Daewon Media, announced on the 26th that its cumulative online publishing business in the third quarter of this year grew by 36.9% compared to the same period last year. By introducing new webtoon titles based on existing web novel intellectual properties (IP), it is creating a virtuous cycle in its online publishing business.
This year on KakaoPage, titles such as "Desert Bride" and "The Man of Christmas" gained attention. "The Man of Christmas" is based on the popular web novel of the same name by writer Jeong Kyung-yoon. Jeong Kyung-yoon is also known for the original web novel of "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim," which was adapted into a drama.
On Naver Webtoon and Naver Series, webtoon works such as "Rainy Night" and "Cinderella at Two A.M." are being serialized.
Daewon C.I.'s self-produced webtoons have also been successful. Titles launched last year, such as "The 101st Female Lead" and "White Deer Ingrid," are available on multiple webtoon platforms including KakaoPage and Naver Series. This year, "The Night the Crow Cries" and "As the Lady Wishes" are new self-produced webtoon lineups currently popular on KakaoPage. Next year, the company plans to release even more self-produced webtoons.

Hwang Min-ho, Vice President of Daewon C.I., said, "Until now, we have focused on works targeting female readers, but to respond to the rapidly changing market environment, we have expanded our business area to male-oriented genres such as fantasy and martial arts since the third quarter of this year. In the first half of next year, we plan to launch many works for male readers as well, aiming to secure popularity and establish ourselves as a leading force in the domestic webtoon market."
