"Goal to Install Smoke Alarms in 80% of Residential Homes by 2025"
Fire Agency Reports Nationwide Installation Rate at 56% Last Year... Launches Public Awareness Campaign
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The National Fire Agency announced on the 26th that it will promote a nationwide public campaign to increase the installation of residential fire alarms.
This policy aims to raise the installation rate of residential fire alarms to at least 80% by 2025, when Korea is expected to enter a super-aged society.
According to the National Fire Agency, since the installation of residential fire alarms became mandatory in 2017, the installation rate has increased by about 8 percentage points annually on average, but as of last year, the nationwide installation rate remains at 56%.
The National Fire Agency's strategy is to build public consensus on the necessity of residential fire alarms and encourage voluntary installation.
To this end, they will conduct a city and province relay dance cover campaign called "Install Fire Alarms Hasong," and hold a handwritten contest titled "Thanks to the Fire Detector." They will also produce three-dimensional promotional posters with actual fire alarms attached to distribute in traditional markets and operate a "Neighborhood Fire Alarm Promotion Team."
They will also run promotions such as the video "Installing Fire Alarms Is Really Easy," which parodies online advertisements in an easy and fun way, leaflets explaining everything about fire alarms, and SNS sharing events for fire alarm posters.
