As part of the ‘Love Kimjang’ sharing event that started in 2016, the ‘Charlotte Volunteer Group,’ composed of Lotte Homeshopping employees, has been making kimchi every year and delivering it to the local underprivileged. This year, to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), face-to-face activities were suspended, and finished kimchi products were delivered non-face-to-face.
At the delivery ceremony held by the Yeongdeungpo-gu Social Welfare Council, only a minimum number of people, including Lotte Homeshopping and council officials, attended to prevent COVID-19 infection. Kimchi for kimjang was delivered to 150 elderly living alone households in Yeongdeungpo-gu to support overcoming ‘Corona Blue’ among the local underprivileged and to help maintain a healthy diet during winter.
Jung Yoonsang, Head of Communications at Lotte Homeshopping, said, “We delivered kimchi for kimjang to the elderly in Yeongdeungpo-gu who are suffering from the double hardship of sudden cold weather and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to carry out win-win activities that provide practical help to the local community and convey warm energy.”

This year, due to the spread of COVID-19, support was switched to an untact (contactless) method. In March, it supported ‘living supplies kits’ consisting of hygiene products and convenience foods to prevent infection among vulnerable groups, and during Chuseok, it delivered more than 10 types of holiday convenience foods, continuing non-face-to-face win-win activities.
