View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Students taking the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) on the 3rd of next month must attend the preliminary gathering day to receive their admission ticket and confirm the test site. This year, due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), confirmed and quarantined students will take the exam in separate testing rooms. The Ministry of Education plans to conduct priority diagnostic tests at public health centers for students before the exam day and arrange the test sites accordingly.
The Ministry of Education announced the 2021 CSAT examinee guidelines on the 25th, including these details. New compliance measures have been added this year for quarantine management due to COVID-19.
◆No entry to test site buildings on preliminary gathering day= Students must attend the preliminary gathering on the 2nd of next month to receive their admission ticket. They should carefully check the location of the test site to avoid going to the wrong place on the exam day.
Entry to the test site buildings on the preliminary gathering day is prohibited. Confirmed or quarantined students can have their admission tickets collected on their behalf by immediate family members or acquaintances who can prove their relationship.
Confirmed students will take the exam at hospitals or residential treatment centers, while quarantined students will take it at separate test sites.
On the day before the CSAT, public health centers will prioritize COVID-19 diagnostic testing for students. Students wishing to be tested must visit a nearby public health center, not a hospital.
Students must clearly state that they are examinees when getting tested at the public health center and report to the local education office afterward. After receiving the report, the education office will provide information about the location of the separate test site and other necessary details for taking the exam. Entering a test site other than the one designated may result in penalties according to the law.
◆Prepare emergency masks= Entry to the test site is allowed from 6:30 a.m. on the exam day. All students will have their temperature checked before entering. If they have symptoms such as fever, they must inform the staff in advance. Students should bring extra masks in case of loss, contamination, or damage. Mesh masks, valve-type masks, and similar types are not allowed.
Even students who did not choose Korean for the first period must enter by 8:10 a.m., receive instructions on precautions, and then move to the designated waiting room.
This year, with mandatory mask-wearing and desk partitions installed, identity verification procedures will be more thorough. Writing exam content or making hand gestures using the partitions will be considered cheating.
All electronic devices are prohibited on the exam day. If a student forgets to leave them behind, they must submit them to the proctor before the first period starts. Failure to submit and being caught will result in immediate disqualification due to cheating.
◆Take only the designated subject during the inquiry area at the scheduled time= The 4th period inquiry area has seen many cheating cases, so students must be familiar with the exam procedures. During the 4th period, students must only look at the question paper for their chosen subject. Viewing question papers for other subjects or more than one subject simultaneously will be treated as cheating. Students must be especially careful not to modify or fill in answer sheets for subjects that have already ended.
Every year, there are cases where students incorrectly write the question paper code or examinee number on the answer sheet. Therefore, it is necessary to double-check that the question paper code and examinee number are correctly entered when filling out the answer sheet.

The Ministry of Education urged students to avoid gathering or talking during breaks and to stay at their seats during lunch for a safe CSAT. Also, ventilation will be conducted in every exam room after each period, so students should dress warmly considering indoor temperatures. When using the restroom, students must wait at the marked spots on the floor.
