Gwangju Bank Launches 5·18 Public Interest Account ‘Neoki’… 50% of Profits Donated
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Bank (President Song Jong-wook) announced on the 25th that it has launched the ‘Neoki May, Remembering That Day’ (hereinafter referred to as ‘Neoki Account’) to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement, remember the spirit of May, and practice sharing with the local community.
The newly launched ‘Neoki Account’ features an old photograph of the former Jeonnam Provincial Government Office on the passbook cover, and incorporates images of sites designated as May 18 historical sites?such as the intercity bus terminal that was located where Gwangju Bank currently stands, the National May 18 Democratic Cemetery, May 18 Democratic Plaza, and Jeonil Building?on the inside pages of the passbook.
Through this, it is expected to reflect on the spirit of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement and the meaning of democracy together with local residents, and to promote the historical significance of these fading historical sites to a wider audience, thereby encouraging interest in the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement.
In particular, as a public interest product, 50% of the proceeds from sales until the end of April next year will be donated to the May 18 Memorial Foundation on May 18 next year, participating in meaningful sharing activities with the local community.
The ‘Neoki Account,’ available as fixed deposits and installment savings, can be subscribed to by individual and corporate customers at branches.
