Hong Jun-pyo: "3rd Disaster Relief Fund, the Opposition Goes Even Further... Only Focused on Handouts"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo criticized the ongoing discussions about the third round of disaster relief funds amid the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), saying they are "only focused on handouts."
On the 25th, Hong said on Facebook, "They are proposing to distribute the third round of COVID disaster relief funds again. Absurdly, the opposition party is going further by suggesting it be included in the main budget, while the ruling party wants to do it through supplementary budgets."
He pointed out, "The solution lies in abandoning leftist economic policies, stopping the strangulation of businesses, and making a major shift to a free market economy policy," adding, "Both ruling and opposition parties are addicted to debt-fueled economic policies that exhaust the national treasury through distribution and even deplete growth potential, focusing solely on handouts."
Hong also said, "Watching news channels that survive on COVID news all day long, which lead COVID fear politics and only report news that frightens the public, makes me question the necessity of such media," and suggested, "It's tiresome now. Let's stop watching those news channels."
