Jungnang-gu Allocates Record High 807 Billion Won in 2021 Budget...Focus on Livelihood and Employment Stability
2021 Budget Proposal of 807 Billion Won, a 53.1 Billion Won (7.1%) Increase from 2020... Focused on Expanding Social Safety Nets for Vulnerable Groups, Livelihood and Employment Stability, Regional Economic Revitalization, and Education Infrastructure Development
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) has prepared the 2021 budget plan at the largest scale ever to stabilize residents' lives and revitalize the local economy.
The district announced that it submitted the 2021 budget plan amounting to 807 billion KRW, an increase of 53.1 billion KRW from this year's budget, to the district council on the 21st.
The 2021 budget plan was expanded to recover the local economy weakened by COVID-19, focusing on strengthening social safety nets to protect vulnerable groups, and enhancing welfare systems such as livelihood and employment stability.
In particular, the budget is concentrated on building and expanding educational infrastructure, expanding cultural and sports facilities, improving the environment, and investing intensively in resident-centered projects such as job support for vulnerable groups and business stabilization for small merchants.
First, the district allocated 109.5 billion KRW for customized welfare service support to stabilize the lives of low-income groups, 171.8 billion KRW for basic pensions and child allowances, 340 million KRW for supporting climate change vulnerable groups, and 13 billion KRW for providing direct jobs to seniors, disabled persons, and other groups facing employment difficulties, focusing on protecting vulnerable groups and stabilizing livelihood employment.
Additionally, 11.57 billion KRW was allocated for urban regeneration and alleyway revitalization projects in nine areas including Muk 2-dong, 700 million KRW for residential environment improvement such as support for apartment management, 900 million KRW for sidewalk environment improvement, and 4.8 billion KRW for establishing urban safety networks including CCTV installation, totaling 56.2 billion KRW in urban development. In the economic sector, 250 million KRW was allocated for startup support, 300 million KRW for issuing local love gift certificates to stimulate consumption, and 500 million KRW for traditional market support, totaling 5 billion KRW.
Moreover, 1.2 billion KRW was allocated for operating the Bang Jeong-hwan Education Support Center, which integrates district education support facilities, 7 billion KRW for school education expenses support, 5.2 billion KRW for free education and free meals support, and 400 million KRW for operating lifelong learning centers and lifelong learning halls to promote lifelong learning culture, helping the growth of future generations and strengthening the foundation for educational development.
To allow residents to freely enjoy cultural and leisure activities, the district will continue to promote the construction and development of living SOC such as libraries and sports facilities.
For this, 1.8 billion KRW was allocated for expanding public libraries including the construction of a complex facility of Myeonmok-dong Library and parking lot and the Smagan Library, and 3 billion KRW was allocated for expanding and improving sports facilities such as the Jungnang-gu grass stadium.
In particular, from next year, about 5.6 billion KRW will be allocated for operating the Jungnang Cultural Foundation, which will be responsible for the district's culture and arts sector, providing residents with more opportunities to enjoy culture.
