Gyeongbuk Gimcheon-si Implements "Social Distancing Equivalent to Level 1.5" ... 16 Confirmed Cases in Three Days
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gimcheon City, which reported 16 confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases) over the past three days, announced on the 23rd that it held a disaster safety countermeasures headquarters meeting and decided to establish and implement quarantine measures equivalent to social distancing level 1.5.
Mayor Kim Chung-seop explained the recent trend of COVID-19 community infections during the briefing of the countermeasures meeting and appealed, "Please refrain from various year-end and New Year gatherings, events, and visits to multi-use facilities."
In Gimcheon, there had been no community infection cases for about 100 days since August 5 (except for one imported case on November 10, the 26th local case), but on the 19th, 6 cases (including 3 imported), on the 20th, 7 cases, and on the 21st, 3 cases emerged, totaling 16 confirmed cases. Among the 13 community infection cases, 12 were related to Gimcheon University students and others, and 1 was a nurse at Gimcheon Jeil Hospital.
A Gimcheon city official stated that in relation to the confirmed cases among Gimcheon University students and the hospital nurse, the school has been completely closed and switched to remote classes since the 19th, while the hospital ward is being managed under cohort (whole) quarantine.
Starting today, social distancing equivalent to level 1.5 is implemented in Gimcheon City, prohibiting gatherings of more than 100 people, and access to high-risk facilities such as entertainment and karaoke bars is limited to one person per 4㎡.

Additionally, in restaurants and cafes larger than 50㎡, a 1-meter distance between tables and visitor log management are mandatory, and general management facilities such as PC rooms, wedding halls, academies, and movie theaters must space seats between different groups and limit occupancy to one person per 4㎡. Religious facilities must also limit worship seating to within 30% capacity.
