[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) jointly held the "Korea-Sweden Digital Economy and Trade Forum" with Business Sweden on the 23rd.
The event, chaired by KITA Chairman Kim Young-joo, Business Sweden Chairman Ilba Berry, and the trade ministers of both countries, was held via video conference. Attendees included Markus Wallenberg, Chairman of Sweden's Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB) and head of the Wallenberg family, as well as representatives from Ericsson, Northvolt, and Embracer Group, who discussed digital and green industry cooperation between the two countries alongside Samsung Electronics, LG Chem, and Smilegate.
Chairman Kim Young-joo stated, "Korea and Sweden are leading the transition to a digital economy and climate change response based on inclusion, innovation, and trust among citizens, governments, companies, and political circles. If the two countries join forces to respond to the digital transformation and leap toward a sustainable society, the changes brought by the COVID-19 pandemic can be leveraged as momentum for the development of digital and green industries."
Swedish Trade Minister Anna Hallberg said, "Korea and Sweden will be excellent partners leading the digital and green transition, and I hope more Swedish companies will find opportunities in Korea."
During the subsequent digital roundtable, there was a lively discussion on the rapidly changing digital industry landscape post-COVID-19, focusing on digital transformation, innovation, sustainability, and the Green Deal.
