The workshop, held at Orakai Songdo Park Hotel, was organized to emphasize the global need for cooperation in world citizenship education due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to explore new avenues for citizen education programs.
Prior to the opening, on the 13th, an orientation explaining the program's purpose was held, along with a two-hour real-time online preliminary training and discussion on world citizenship education.
Starting with 'UNESCO's Concept of World Citizenship Education' by Im Hyunmuk, Director of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific International Understanding Education Institute, lectures were given by Professor Park Hwanbo of Chungnam National University on 'World Citizenship Education in School Education' and Professor Han Soonghee of Seoul National University on 'Community-led World Citizenship Education.'
On the first day of the in-person workshop, discussions were held on lifelong education and world citizenship education, and time was allocated to introduce exemplary cases of lifelong education-linked world citizenship education.
On the 20th, research on the current status of world citizenship education implementation within domestic lifelong education was presented, followed by discussions on the realities of lifelong education and world citizenship education by region and the future direction of world citizenship education.
The district was selected last year as a world citizenship education cluster coordinator city as a leading city in world citizenship education and has continuously worked to promote citizen education through events such as conferences.
