Extended until the 30th to Identify Low-Income Crisis Households Due to COVID-19 Spread
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) has extended the application deadline for the ‘Emergency Livelihood Support for Crisis Households’ project until the 30th to additionally identify low-income crisis households whose income has decreased due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19.
As of the 18th, 5,278 households have applied, showing a 92% application rate compared to the expected 5,728 households. The city plans to focus on identifying additional blind spots during the extended application period to provide support funds to more citizens.
Households with decreased income due to COVID-19, whose income is below 75% of the median income (3,562,000 KRW for a family of four) and assets are below 350 million KRW, can apply at their local eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare centers by the 30th. Applications can be made by the head of the household, household members, or representatives.
Applicants must submit proof of income reduction, but if objective evidence is difficult to provide, a self-declaration of income reduction will also be accepted.
The support amounts are 400,000 KRW for single-person households, 600,000 KRW for two-person households, 800,000 KRW for three-person households, and 1,000,000 KRW for households of four or more. Based on the resident registration household members as of September 9, the first payment is scheduled for the 30th.
However, recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security, Emergency Welfare Livelihood Support, other COVID-19 damage support programs (Emergency Employment Stability Support, Small Business New Hope Fund, Worker Employment Retention Support, Youth Special Employment Support Program participants, Job-Seeking Allowance, taxi drivers, etc.), and public officials are excluded from eligibility.
