Park Soo-young: "Gadeokdo New Airport Should Not Be an Airport Only for Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Park Soo-young, a member of the People Power Party who spearheaded the "Gadeokdo New Airport Special Act," emphasized the necessity of promoting the new airport, stating that it is not an airport solely for the "Bu-Ul-Gyeong (Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam)" region.
On the 20th, Park said on Facebook, "If the Gadeokdo New Airport is just an airport for Bu-Ul-Gyeong, I oppose it."
He added, "I hope it will be the starting point for building railroads and roads that allow travel within an hour from Daegu as well as Gwangju," emphasizing, "So that South Korea does not only expand around the metropolitan area, but the southern economic zone encompassing Gyeongsang and Jeolla provinces can also prosper as a foundation for balanced development."
Park also stated, "If it is just an airport for Busan citizens to travel abroad conveniently, I oppose it," and said, "It should become a Northeast Asian logistics hub that transports export goods produced not only in the Southeast region but also in the southern region."

Seoul should be the political capital, and Busan should become the economic capital as a starting point."
