Learn Fire Survival Skills by Solving Problems Online
Fire Agency, 1st National Online Fire Survival Quiz Competition for All Citizens
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The online "Fire Survival Quiz Competition," hosted by the National Fire Agency and sponsored by the Korea Fire Safety Institute, will be held from the 23rd of this month to the 4th of next month.
The National Fire Agency explained on the 20th that, due to difficulties in conducting hands-on fire safety education amid the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) this year, the competition is being held in a self-diagnostic quiz format that anyone in the Republic of Korea can participate in remotely.
The questions are based on actual cases where fatal accidents occurred during fires, and are designed so that participants can naturally learn fire safety procedures while solving the problems. Those wishing to participate can register and join through the "Fire Survival Self-Diagnosis Program" banner on the National Fire Agency’s homepage bulletin board.
In the first stage, participants solve 12 multiple-choice questions with five options each, categorized by fire type, to check their knowledge of appropriate responses. In the second stage, they answer 10 true-or-false questions per fire type to learn safety knowledge.
Among participants who submit their answers, awards will be given separately in the general and student categories based on the highest total scores in the true-or-false quiz: one Grand Prize (Minister of the Interior and Safety Award), three Excellence Awards (National Fire Agency Commissioner Award), and six Encouragement Awards (Korea Fire Safety Institute President Award).
Additionally, those who complete all 400 questions across 18 types will receive a certificate of completion for the Fire Survival Self-Diagnosis Program. Only those who have completed the program will be eligible to apply for a one-day honorary firefighter experience at a nearby fire station.
