Prime Minister Jeong: "Strengthening Punishment for Child Abuse... Forming TF Team, Reviewing Sentencing Guidelines"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun stated on the 19th, "We have formed a task force (TF) team to strengthen the punishment for child abuse, and we will review sentencing guidelines to severely punish child abuse cases and submit a proposal to the Sentencing Commission by the end of the year."
On the occasion of Child Abuse Prevention Day, Prime Minister Chung posted on his social network service (SNS), "We will no longer miss the golden time to prevent child abuse. The government will consider itself the guardian of children and carefully observe from the child's perspective," expressing his commitment.
He also mentioned, "We have expanded the scope of dispatch from the existing 'emergency child abuse reports' to establish the principle of 'accompanying dispatch for all child abuse reports deemed necessary for joint response.'"
He continued, "We will also introduce an immediate separation system," emphasizing, "We will establish legal provisions to allow immediate temporary separation when child abuse officers clearly suspect abuse circumstances."
Additionally, he added, "We will introduce sanction regulations against guardians, such as imposing fines for refusal to propose programs for the relief of abused children."

Furthermore, child abuse reports will be included under public interest report protection, the system for reducing the responsibility of reporters will be expanded, and to ensure protection and support without blind spots, crisis child and youth information systems managed by each ministry will be linked and integrated. A metropolitan child protection dedicated organization will be established to quarterly inspect implementation status.
