OK Financial, Employees Collect Precious Steps to Donate Small Furniture for Dream Trees
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] OK Financial Group, which includes OK Savings Bank and OK Capital, is continuing its non-face-to-face corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities amid the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
OK Financial Group announced on the 19th that it is conducting an employee talent donation campaign, a CSR campaign to create small furniture kits, under the slogan "We대한민국, Walking Together for Everyone" until the 20th of this month, targeting all employees.
Previously, OK Financial Group conducted an "Employee Step Donation Campaign." Using a platform that donates based on the number of steps taken by participating employees, the campaign aimed to raise funds until the 13th of last month. Through this, about 1,800 employees donated approximately 230 million steps over a month, which is equivalent to walking around the earth four times.
Using the funds raised through the step donation, OK Financial Group is producing 500 small furniture kits to support underprivileged dream children with the participation of employees. This CSR activity was prepared with the same purpose as the previous step donation campaign and originated from the will of Chairman Choi Yoon of OK Financial Group to continue "sharing" even in a situation where face-to-face CSR activities are difficult due to the spread of COVID-19.
The "DIY" type small furniture kits consist of ▲a bookshelf ▲a pencil holder ▲a wood speaker, and take about two hours to complete. This concept of volunteer work is done individually at home to eliminate the risk of COVID-19 infection, and participation is possible not only for employees but also for their families and acquaintances, thereby expanding the significance of sharing. In particular, when employees make the kits together with their children, the children’s two hours of volunteer work are also recognized.
The prepared small furniture sets will be delivered to the homes of underprivileged dream children through the Milal Welfare Foundation by the end of this month. Through this, OK Financial Group plans to improve the learning environment for children from vulnerable groups.
