President Moon Sends Congratulatory Message to Pro-Korea U.S. Congress Members, Urges Support for Peace on the Korean Peninsula
[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] On the 18th, the Blue House announced that President Moon Jae-in sent congratulatory messages to Senator Ed Markey (Democrat, Massachusetts), who was re-elected in the U.S. congressional elections held on the 3rd, as well as Representatives Ro Khanna (Democrat, California), Andy Kim (Democrat, New Jersey), and Brad Sherman (Democrat, California).
Blue House spokesperson Kang Min-seok explained in a written briefing that "these lawmakers are prominent 'pro-Korea' members who have actively engaged in legislative activities to promote the Korea-U.S. alliance (such as the Korea-U.S. Alliance Strengthening Act and resolutions supporting the Korea-U.S. alliance) and the Korean Peninsula (such as resolutions urging a declaration to end the Korean War) within the U.S. Congress."
In the congratulatory message, President Moon expressed his gratitude for their efforts leading the development of Korea-U.S. relations, stating, "The interest and support these lawmakers have shown toward Korea-U.S. relations have laid the foundation for strengthening the alliance between the two countries."
