Seoul Jung-gu, Creation of Community Activation Space within Namsan Town Apartment
Seoul Jung-gu and Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation Sign MOU for Joint Operation of Namsan Town Community Activation Space...Utilizing 528㎡ (Approx. 160 Pyeong) Vacant Space on 2nd Floor of Namsan Town Rental Apartment Management Building...Creating Small Auditorium, Program Room, Lounge & Community Room, Indoor Children's Play Area, Gym, etc.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Various spaces such as a small auditorium and program room, rest and community rooms, indoor children's play facilities, and a gym will be established in May next year at Namsan Town Apartments (Dasan-ro 32) in Jung-gu, Seoul to revitalize the local community.
To this end, Jung-gu (Mayor Seoyangho) signed a "Business Agreement on Joint Operation of Namsan Town Public Housing Resident Community Facilities (Community Revitalization Space)" with Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (President Kim Seyong) at the Jung-gu Youth Center on the afternoon of the 17th, and will begin full-scale project promotion.
According to the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate mutually regarding the creation and operation of the relevant spaces. The district will be responsible for space creation and operation, while the corporation will maintain a cooperative system for the smooth operation of the facility.
The community revitalization space will be created on the 2nd floor of the management building of Namsan Town rental apartments (Jung-gu Dasan-ro 32), with an area of 528㎡ (approximately 160 pyeong).
The starting point of the project was a SOS request from the tenant representative association of Namsan Town rental apartments asking the district to utilize this space. This space had been vacant since March when the entrusted operator ceased operations.
The district reviewed the complaint and decided to operate the facility directly, undergoing remodeling construction to create a community revitalization space that can strengthen the bonds among apartment residents.
Since district budget is being invested, efforts were also made to ensure that residents other than those in rental apartments can benefit together.
According to the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Management of Multi-family Housing, in order for residents of nearby multi-family housing, such as Namsan Town sale apartments, to use the facility, the consent of the majority of rental apartment residents is required.
Accordingly, with the cooperation of the management entity, Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation, the district obtained consent forms from 1,071 households, accounting for 54.1% of the 1,979 rental apartment households excluding vacant units, from September to October.
Thanks to these efforts, 5,150 households living in Namsan Town Apartments, the largest multi-family housing complex in Jung-gu by number of households, will be able to use the facility.
The district is accelerating the project with the goal of opening in May next year, and once the facility is completed, it plans to form an operating committee consisting of resident representatives to discover specialized projects and operate programs for local residents.
Additionally, the working staff will utilize local human resources to create social jobs.
Since the inauguration of Mayor Seoyangho of Jung-gu in the 7th local government, the district has been making great efforts to realize resident autonomy through the delegation of authority to the administrative unit closest to residents, the dong (neighborhood) government.
Accordingly, the Yaksoo-dong Resident Center, which has jurisdiction over the project site, is collaborating with Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation to promote full-scale remodeling construction and operation.
