Dobong-gu, Public and Private Sectors Join Hands to Create a Safe City
On the 17th, the '2020 Safety Culture Movement Promotion Dobong-gu Council' was held... Discussion on the 2021 Safety Culture Movement Promotion Direction
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) held the '2020 Safety Culture Movement Promotion Dobong-gu Council' on the 17th to discuss ways to spread safety culture awareness throughout society.
The 'Safety Culture Movement Promotion Dobong-gu Council' was launched in 2015 as a public-private safety culture council with broad participation from disaster safety-related organizations and groups within the region, aiming to carry out effective, community-centered safety culture movements in response to the serious safety indifference across society.
At the council meeting, about 20 members attended, including co-chairman Lee Dong-jin, Mayor of Dobong-gu, Park Jong-hwa, Chairman of the Autonomous Disaster Prevention Council, representatives from Dobong Police Station, Dobong Fire Station, Northern Education Support Office, Dobong-gu Office, and related disaster safety organizations and private groups.
The council is composed of subcommittees on social safety, daily life safety, and traffic safety, performing functions such as safety education, support for safety culture promotion policies, and joint public-private safety culture practice campaigns. Each subcommittee selects and promotes practical tasks suited to local conditions, and the council also conducts safety culture movements on common themes to enhance the safety awareness of residents.
During the meeting, a ceremony was held to commend 11 individuals for their contributions to public-private collaboration in disaster response in 2020. The council also reviewed current disaster safety-related municipal projects, such as guidance and enforcement against not wearing masks in response to COVID-19, and discussed council agenda items.
In particular, time was spent sharing opinions on the 2021 council operation direction, subcommittee practical tasks, and plans for key campaigns related to residents' safety.
