[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Since 2010, mid-career artist Ahn Yunmo (57), who has been conducting world tours with autistic artists not only domestically but also at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Bozar Art Center in Europe, as well as in Africa and Asia, has planned this exhibition both online and offline for autistic artists who are in relatively more disadvantaged environments within the art field, which has been weakened by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This project, prepared to re-promote opportunities for communication through paintings with people around the world, is titled "Bridge of the World" and will be held from November 13 to 30 at the Blue One Gallery in Insadong, Seoul.
This exhibition is a special exchange exhibition featuring autistic artists from Taiwan and South Korea. As a form of exhibition conducted in a non-face-to-face social atmosphere, a website will be created to exhibit videos and artworks online together. Videos containing stories about the artwork creation process will also be produced, and even after the exhibition ends, continuous activities such as introducing the artists and their works through the website will be carried out.
The exhibition will showcase about 30 paintings by seven autistic artists: Gye Inho, Kim Sejung, Kim Taeyoung, Lee Byungchan, Cho Jaehyun, Chi Liang Yu (Taiwan), and Leland Lee (Taiwan).
The featured artists have long worked and exhibited with artist Ahn Yunmo, and the Taiwanese autistic artists are active in Taiwan and were selected upon recommendation by the Xiaolong Park Museum of Art in Taiwan.

YAP YUN MO AHN AUTISM PROJECT... A project with Ahn Yunmo and autistic friends worldwide
YAP was established in 2010 by artist Ahn Yunmo, autistic artists with artistic talents, their families, and people interested in autism, aiming to pursue communication with the world through paintings due to the limitations of verbal communication characteristic of autism.
Through various projects with artist Ahn Yunmo and autistic friends worldwide, it seeks to share messages of challenge, dreams, and hope through art among children and youth with disabilities in Korea and similar disabilities worldwide, exchange cultural arts globally, and serve as a small catalyst for realizing humanity that transcends different languages, religions, and races.
For autistic friends, painting is a means of self-expression and communication with the world. The project aims to provide opportunities to share their beautiful and honest stories expressed only by them with many people and to create opportunities to newly highlight their artistic aspects.
The various projects with autistic friends worldwide and artist Ahn Yunmo are completed through the participation of hundreds of thousands or millions of similar disabled children and youth around the globe, becoming the largest art installation and a warm messenger of hope that can be shared with people worldwide. Therefore, through their works, it hopes to create a warm world without discrimination based on race, language, disability, or non-disability, where people communicate with each other.
