[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former lawmaker Park Min-sik, who is the first in the opposition to declare his candidacy for Busan mayor, welcomed the cancellation of the Gimhae New Airport project and urged President Moon to express his commitment to the Gadeokdo New Airport project through a special address.

He added, "The most important thing at this point is President Moon Jae-in's decision. The president should not stand idly by but clearly express his commitment to the Gadeokdo New Airport project in the form of a special address. We must not waste time with delays again."

Park served as a member of the 18th and 19th National Assembly and currently serves as the head of the People Power Party's Buk-gu and Gangseo-gu Gap district committee. On the 9th, he became the first opposition figure to declare his candidacy for Busan mayor.
