Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok: "We Will Cover Diagnostic Test Costs When Symptoms Appear"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, stated, "To ensure prompt diagnostic testing when symptoms occur, the city and county governments will cover the testing costs."
According to Jeonnam Province on the 17th, Governor Kim said at the policy meeting with department heads, "There have been cases where confirmed patients emerged because people confused COVID-19 symptoms with a common cold and wandered around during the 3 to 4 days when the virus is most actively shed." He emphasized, "Although the eastern region has already raised social distancing to level 1.5 to block community transmission of COVID-19, this is by no means a stage to be complacent about; it is a critical situation."
He continued, "Even the provincial government employees are currently not at a stage to feel safe," and stressed, "We must strictly follow quarantine rules, and if symptoms such as cold or muscle pain occur, employees should not come to work and must get tested after 3 to 4 days, setting an example as public officials."
He also mentioned the results of the resident life satisfaction evaluation.
Governor Kim said, "Achieving first place for 18 consecutive months shows that policies felt in daily life are receiving positive evaluations from residents," and added, "We must ensure that trust in provincial administration increases through sufficient explanations."
He further stated, "Entering the winter season, it is an important time to prevent not only COVID-19 but also wildfires, avian influenza (AI), and African swine fever," and instructed, "Especially since many vulnerable groups are struggling due to COVID-19, please prepare support measures linked with the local community along with careful attention to these groups."
