Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju to Hold 'Military Noise Compensation Act Resident Briefing' on the 19th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 17th that it will hold a ‘Military Noise Compensation Act Residents Briefing Session’ at Yunsangwon Hall in the district office on the 19th, together with the Gwangsan District Council.
This residents briefing session is held to inform about the status and contents of the Military Airfield and Military Shooting Range Noise Prevention and Damage Compensation Act, which was enacted last November and will be enforced from the 27th, as well as the schedule and method of noise impact surveys and the progress of military noise compensation lawsuits.
According to the law, after the noise impact survey, noise countermeasure areas will be announced by December next year, and residents in these areas will be able to apply for compensation and receive it over the next five years.
The compensation reference date starts from the enforcement date of the law, which is the 27th of this month.
Applications for compensation will begin around January 2022, and compensation payments will be made around August of the same year after review.
The residents briefing session will also include a Q&A session to address various questions from residents.

A district official said, “We hope many residents will participate in the briefing session held prior to the enforcement of the law and provide diverse opinions,” adding, “We will submit residents’ opinions to the Ministry of National Defense to ensure appropriate compensation for noise damage.”
