Diageo Korea Launches Renewed Versions of 'Double U17' and 'Double U Ice'
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Diageo Korea has completed the renewal of the ‘W by Windsor’ lineup. They have established a new product lineup offering a wider variety of ‘alcohol content,’ ‘aging,’ and ‘flavor’ tailored to Korean consumers' demands.
On the 17th, Diageo Korea announced the renewed launch of two premium low-alcohol products: ‘W 17’ and ‘W ICE.’
Following the domestic debut of the new 32.5% alcohol content products ‘W 19’ and ‘W Honey’ in July, Diageo Korea has built a more refined low-alcohol lineup with these two renewed products. Each offers distinct flavors: ‘W 19’ and ‘W 17’ contain super-premium Scotch whisky distillate; ‘W Honey’ includes Scottish heather honey; and ‘W ICE’ is created using a subzero 8-degree cooling filtration technique, providing consumers with diverse choices.
‘W 17’ and ‘W ICE’ are low-alcohol beverages with 35% alcohol content, designed to suit consumers who prefer a smooth finish. From distillate to bottling, they are 100% produced in Scotland. The package renewal applies a young and sophisticated new design identity for the ‘W by Windsor’ brand.
‘W 17’ features a high-quality flavor profile with 17-year aged super-premium Scotch whisky distillate. It is praised for its balance of oak aroma, various fruits, and sweet, rich vanilla flavors, harmonizing the deep flavor from the long-aged distillate with the smoothness unique to low-alcohol beverages, leaving a long-lasting aftertaste.
‘W ICE’ is made with carefully selected Scotch whisky distillate and manufactured using a cooling filtration process at minus 8 degrees Celsius to maximize smoothness. Its clean flavor harmonizes sweet butter candy, tropical fruits, vanilla, and subtle oak aroma, making it a low-alcohol drink that can be enjoyed anytime and anywhere without burden.
Notably, all these renewed products are crafted from carefully selected distillates from the ‘Royal Lochnagar’ distillery, the birthplace of Korea’s best-selling whiskey ‘Windsor’ and a distillery certified by the British Royal Family. Additionally, the blending was done by master blender Craig Wallace, who created ‘Johnnie Walker King George V,’ ‘Talisker,’ and ‘Laphroaig,’ enhancing the whiskey’s original ‘aroma’ and ‘flavor.’
The renewed bottle design emphasizes luxury with a simple square shape and sophisticated black color. The ‘W’ logo at the top expresses the design identity of the W brand, and the master blender Craig Wallace’s signature at the bottom emphasizes authenticity.
