Busan National University Convergence Medical Institute Hosts Technology Competition in 'Digital Healthcare and Next-Generation Rehabilitation Welfare' Fields
First-year students of the Department of Physical Therapy at Gyeongnam Information College won the Excellence Award in a competition for digital medical rehabilitation welfare technology.

Students from Gyeongnam Information University won the Excellence Award at a competition hosted by the Pusan National University Institute of Convergence Medicine, which challenged participants in 'Digital Medical and Next-Generation Rehabilitation Welfare' technologies.
A student team consisting of first-year physical therapy students Kim Tae-hoon, Park Mi-ha, Kim Seong-ha, and Hong Ye-ri from Gyeongnam Information University (President Chu Man-seok) participated in the 'MEDICAL HACK 2020' competition held over two days from November 12 at the Park Hyatt Haeundae and won the Excellence Award.
The team received the Excellence Award and a prize of 1 million KRW for their idea of a personalized cervical pillow linked with an application that can improve and prevent cervical spine disorders through an app that automatically recognizes the condition of the neck and spine during sleep and a customized pillow.
This contest is an event where healthcare professionals, medical institution workers, students with ideas, the general public, and prospective entrepreneurs form teams to develop healthcare business models.
This year, 170 development teams participated, and awards were given to five final teams including Ewha Womans University, Soonchunhyang University, and Gyeongnam Information University.

Professor Kim Ji-hyeok, who supervised the students, said, "It seems to have been a great opportunity for students to directly experience that a small idea, when fused with digital technology, can lead to the advancement of medical technology and help patients."
