[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) is recruiting participants for the '2021 First Half Public Work Project' for five days from the 16th to the 20th.
The public work project is a job policy that provides temporary jobs to vulnerable groups who are unemployed or have no regular income, aiming to boost their motivation to work, improve employment skills, and help them become self-reliant.
The recruitment fields are ▲Waste Resource Recycling (80 people) ▲Welfare (Meal) Support (49 people) ▲Youth Jobs (32 people) ▲Clean Gangbuk (15 people) ▲General Labor (124 people), with a total of 300 people to be selected.
The project period is from January 11 to June 30 next year, and the Waste Resource Recycling project will start a week earlier on the 4th.
Applicants must be Gangbuk-gu residents aged 18 or older with the ability to work, whose household income is 65% or less of the median income standard and whose assets are 200 million KRW or less. Those receiving livelihood benefits under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act, unemployment benefits recipients and their spouses, and those who have participated consecutively are excluded from participation. However, residents who participated in this year's COVID-19 public, hope, and local job projects are not considered consecutive participants.
Applicants wishing to apply should bring their ID card, job-seeker registration certificate, and documents proving eligibility for additional points to the community service center in their area of residence. The district office will verify eligibility and finalize participants, notifying each individual through the respective project departments on December 30.
The daily wage for Waste Resource Recycling and Welfare (Meal) Support projects is 53,000 KRW for 6 hours per day, and for other fields, it is 44,000 KRW for 5 hours per day. An additional 5,000 KRW is provided for snacks.

Mayor Park Gyeom-su of Gangbuk-gu said, "I hope this project will help stabilize the livelihoods of residents struggling with employment due to COVID-19, even if only a little," and added, "We will continue to pay close attention and actively support the expansion of jobs for vulnerable groups."
