Expecting a New Look to Shine Through Culture and Arts
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 16th that it will spend a total of 400 million won by the end of this year to promote the public art project, ‘Gokseong Art Collabo Project.’
This project is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by Gokseong-gun to support the livelihoods of artists who have faced difficulties due to COVID-19 and to enhance residents’ opportunities to enjoy culture.
Gokseong-gun signed a consignment agreement with Korea Experimental Art Spirit (CEO Kim Baekgi) to carry out the project.
The project involves over 40 renowned artists across various genres, including world-renowned media artist Lee Inam, as well as Im Geunwoo, Moon Junggyu, Kim Seokhwan, Byun Younghwan, Daum, and Rose Park.
The artists will install 12 art benches using LED lighting at Gokseong Leisure Culture Center, Gokseong Train Village Traditional Market, and Gangbit Village, along with four sculptures including the representative character Ray of Gokseong.
The media signboard at Gokseong Train Village Traditional Market will dynamically depict representative symbols of Gokseong such as the Jeolla Line railway, Seomjin River, roses, and taro under the theme ‘Flowing Side by Side.’
In Gangbit Village, located in Jukgok-myeon, the project will proceed under the concept ‘Village, Dressed in Art.’
Nineteen buildings including the Wizard Room, Rose House, Dreamlike Lady Room, Money Rain Room, and Cloud Fish Room will be established as themed house galleries.
Between the buildings, lighting lines will be connected in a zigzag pattern to shine like starlight at night, and during the day, various installation artworks such as flag art will be exhibited. Additionally, large rose sculptures will also be installed.
