Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education Introduces International Baccalaureate (IB)... Executive Staff Undergo 'Job Training'
Gang Eun-hee, Superintendent of Education, "IB Will Be a Catalyst for Revolutionary Improvement in Classroom Instruction"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] On the 14th, the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education conducted a job training session aimed at strengthening the practical capabilities of executives in implementing the 'International Baccalaureate' (IB) program at the Daegu Future Education Research Institute.
About 30 executives, including Superintendent Kang Eun-hee, participated in this job training, which was structured to examine specific classes and assessments of the IB programs by school level: the Primary Years Program (PYP) for elementary schools, the Middle Years Program (MYP) for middle schools, and the Diploma Program (DP) for high schools.
The participants reviewed practical changes in school educational culture, focusing on the operation cases of the IB program at the affiliated elementary and middle schools of Gyeongbuk National University of Education, a second-year IB candidate school that has applied IB classes and assessments, and then discussed practical support measures.
Superintendent Kang Eun-hee stated, "The operation of the IB program will serve as a catalyst for groundbreaking improvements in classroom instruction," adding, "This training was organized to actively seek ways to create an educational environment where our children can grow into future talents equipped with critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills."
Meanwhile, the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, together with the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education, confirmed the promotion of Korean localization of the International Baccalaureate through an agreement with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) in April last year, and designated the affiliated elementary and middle schools of Kyungpook National University as 'candidate schools' preparing for certification under IBO's consulting.
