Ministry of Unification: "Hope North and South Open Dialogue First to Create Time for Inter-Korean Relations"

At a regular briefing that day, Cho Hye-sil, deputy spokesperson of the Ministry of Unification, was asked about the lack of response from North Korea regarding the US presidential election. She said, "Above all, what we want to emphasize is that during a period of high volatility in the situation, South and North Korea should be the first to open the door to dialogue, build trust, and work to create time for inter-Korean relations." She added, "From this perspective, I would like to once again emphasize our expectation that the North will respond prudently, wisely, and flexibly during this period of transition."
Recently, messages urging North Korea to refrain from provocations have been issued continuously from the ruling party.

On the 9th, Lee In-young, Minister of Unification, stated at a press conference, "We expect the North to respond prudently, wisely, and flexibly during this period of transition." Following this, on the previous day, Kim Tae-nyeon, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, also said at a policy coordination meeting, "We strongly recommend that North Korea refrain from provocations and accidental actions due to misjudgment, taking advantage of the US regime transition period."
