Metropolitan Subway Line 1 Breakdown at Seoul Station ... Bidirectional Service Suspended Between Yongsan and Gwangwoon University
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Around 9:08 AM on the 13th, a train operated by Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) on Line 1, traveling from Seoul Station towards Soyosan, experienced a malfunction, causing disruptions in service.
According to Seoul Metro, due to a power outage on both the up and down tracks caused by the vehicle malfunction, as of 11 AM, train operations on the up line (Soyosan to Uijeongbu direction) and down line (Incheon to Sinchang) between Yongsan Station and Gwangwoon University Station on Line 1 have been suspended. All passengers aboard the malfunctioning train have disembarked at Seoul Station.
KORAIL has formed an on-site response team and is preparing to restore service by deploying additional trains.

With the subway service suspension, Seoul Metro is preparing to deploy substitute buses between Seoul Station and Cheongnyangni Station. The Seoul Metropolitan Government also announced efforts to alleviate passenger inconvenience by increasing the frequency of nearby bus routes.
