View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] On the 12th, Gimcheon City in Gyeongbuk signed a memorandum of understanding for investment to produce electric vehicle battery pack cases (BPC) and complete vehicles at the city hall, attended by about 20 people including Mayor Kim Chung-seop, City Council Chairman Lee Woo-cheong, and CEO Jo Jung-pil of SS Light Co., Ltd.
SS Light Co., Ltd., which has a factory in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, plans to invest a total of 11 billion KRW on a 16,529㎡ (5,000 pyeong) site in the Gimcheon General Industrial Complex (Phase 3) through this investment agreement, establishing an assembly plant for electric vehicle battery pack cases as well as complete electric Damas (electric van) and electric Labo (electric truck) vehicles.
With growing interest from domestic automotive-related companies due to the planned establishment of a tuning car performance and safety testing center and an automotive service complex in the Gimcheon General Industrial Complex, Gimcheon City emphasized that attracting this electric complete vehicle manufacturing plant will serve as a catalyst to lead the revival of Gimcheon's automotive industry.

Mayor Kim Chung-seop stated, "As environmental regulations expand, electric vehicles, which are a substitute demand for internal combustion engine vehicles, are receiving more attention. The signing of this memorandum of understanding will be a significant opportunity to respond to the eco-friendly automobile market," and pledged, "We will spare no administrative support to ensure that corporate activities proceed without inconvenience."
