[Public Notice+] Unisem Q3 Operating Profit 5.4 Billion KRW... 29% Increase YoY
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Unisem, a semiconductor and display equipment specialist, continued its trend of higher earnings growth in the third quarter compared to last year, supported by the recovery in the display industry.
On the 12th, Unisem announced through a disclosure that its third-quarter operating profit based on consolidated financial statements was 5.4 billion KRW, an increase of 28.9% compared to the same period last year. Sales during the same period rose 9.3% to 45.9 billion KRW. For the cumulative third quarter, sales reached 159.9 billion KRW and operating profit was 24.7 billion KRW.
In the third quarter, investments by Chinese display companies including LG Display led to the increase in performance. LG Display, which returned to profitability in the third quarter this year, resumed OLED investments at its Paju plant, resulting in equipment supply.
A company official stated, “Orders from Chinese display companies such as BOE and Tianma were also concentrated in the third quarter,” adding, “Some of the supply delayed in the first half due to COVID-19 was fulfilled in the third quarter.”
Unisem specializes in scrubbers, equipment for treating harmful gases generated during semiconductor and display production processes, and chillers, temperature control equipment. It supplies equipment to leading domestic and international semiconductor and display companies such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, LG Display, and BOE.

Despite the decline in DRAM prices, Samsung Electronics is continuing aggressive investments with its ‘super-gap’ strategy, so demand for production equipment is expected to remain steady.
