'Seodaemun Community Harmony Festival' Bringing Together People with and without Disabilities
Held as 'Neighbor Workshop Experience' and 'Storytelling Video Contest' Instead of In-Person Events
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) will hold the 9th Seodaemun Resident Harmony Festival for People with and without Disabilities, "Knock Knock Knock! We Are Neighbors," on the 24th from 2 PM to 3 PM in the large auditorium on the 6th floor of the district office.
This event is hosted by the Disability Welfare Division of the Seodaemun-gu Community Social Security Council and organized by the Seodaemun Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled.
Although it has been held annually as an event where people with and without disabilities and local residents can communicate and enjoy together, this year, due to social distancing measures, instead of the usual face-to-face event, it will be conducted through "small group neighborhood workshop experience activities" and a "storytelling video contest."
Since the end of last month, a total of 492 people, including 4 members each from 123 groups of people with and without disabilities, have been participating together in various experiential activities such as woodworking, leather crafting, barista training, flower arranging, aromatherapy, pottery making, and seasonal side dish preparation at local workshops and libraries.
During the Seodaemun Resident Harmony Festival, along with the opening ceremony, awards will be given to 11 teams in total?1 grand prize team, 1 excellence award team, 3 outstanding award teams, and 6 encouragement award teams?selected from videos capturing the workshop experience activities, and the awarded videos will be screened.
The videos are produced within 90 seconds each.
