Emart24 Launches First 'MinSaeng' Series for Pets... MinSaeng Pet Dog Pads Released
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Emart24 will launch its first affordable pet product, the "Affordable Pet Dog Pad," on the 12th.
The Affordable Pet Dog Pad contains 100 pads measuring 40cm × 50cm each, and is priced at 6,500 KRW. At 65 KRW per pad, it boasts a high cost-effectiveness compared to similar products with the same specifications sold through offline distribution channels.
Emart24 decided to develop pet products due to the increase in single-person households and the low birthrate and aging population, which have led to a rise in pet families (pet owners who consider their pets as family).
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' "2019 National Awareness Survey on Animal Protection," there are 5.91 million households raising pets, an increase of 800,000 households compared to 2018. Among these, pet dogs account for 4.95 million households out of 5.91 million. This means that one in five households lives with a pet dog.
As the number of pet families increases, sales of pet products at convenience stores have also grown significantly every year. In fact, Emart24's total pet product sales increased by 50.2% in 2019 and 56.7% in 2020 compared to the previous year (January to October).
