September Bank Loan Delinquency Rate Hits Record Low...Both Corporate and Household Rates Decline
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] At the end of September this year, the bank loan delinquency rate recorded an all-time low.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service on the 12th, the delinquency rate of domestic banks' won-denominated loans (based on principal and interest overdue for more than one month) at the end of September was 0.30%, down 0.07 percentage points from the end of the previous month.
This is the lowest figure since the statistics began in January 2007 based on principal and interest overdue for more than one month.
It is a decrease of 0.14 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
The amount of new delinquencies in September (1 trillion won) decreased by 100 billion won compared to the previous month, and the amount of delinquent loan disposal (2.3 trillion won) increased by 1.7 trillion won.
As of the end of September, the corporate loan delinquency rate was 0.37%, down 0.09 percentage points from the end of the previous month (0.47%).
The delinquency rate for large corporate loans was 0.28%, down 0.01 percentage points from the end of the previous month (0.29%), and the delinquency rate for small and medium-sized enterprise loans was 0.40%, down 0.11 percentage points from the end of the previous month (0.51%).
The delinquency rate for small and medium-sized corporations was 0.53%, down 0.14 percentage points from the end of the previous month (0.67%). The delinquency rate for individual business owner loans was 0.25%, down 0.07 percentage points from the end of the previous month (0.32%).
The household loan delinquency rate recorded 0.22%, down 0.05 percentage points from the end of the previous month (0.27%).
Among household loans, the delinquency rate for mortgage loans was 0.16%, down 0.02 percentage points from the end of the previous month (0.18%).

The delinquency rate for household loans excluding mortgage loans (such as credit loans) was 0.36%, down 0.12 percentage points from the end of the previous month (0.48%).
