Jeju Tourism Organization, Real-Time Safety and Congestion Levels of Tourist Spots 'At a Glance'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and Jeju Tourism Organization announced that starting from the 10th, they will pilot the ‘Real-time Tourist Site Congestion Analysis Service’ which actively utilizes big data technology to allow tourists to enjoy safe tourism without worrying about COVID-19.
The official launch is scheduled for the 23rd.
The ‘Real-time Tourist Site Congestion Analysis Service’ uses telecom (SKT) base station data to update and provide the gender and age distribution of residents and tourists by region every 5 minutes. It allows users to check not only where residents and tourists are currently concentrated in real time, but also the places with the highest increase in the last 3 hours and the popularity and congestion by region based on statistics from the past 24 hours.
Through this, tourists can check in real time the less crowded times of ‘travel destinations preferred by tourists similar to me,’ providing information so that tourists can travel safely without stress. This service is available on ‘Visit Jeju,’ the official Jeju tourism information portal operated by Jeju Tourism Organization, and will be provided via mobile and applications (apps) in the future.
Additionally, based on the tourist distribution, the organization plans to support the creation of various tourism businesses suited to individual/non-face-to-face tourism trends by promoting regional dispersion marketing through customized recommendation services for tourists and analysis services integrated with tourism industry data.
Jeju Tourism Organization is analyzing tourist consumption and movement patterns based on various big data such as national approved statistics including tourist surveys and tourism trend reports, as well as credit card, navigation, mobile communication, bus card, and Wi-Fi data. Through this, they are responding promptly to rapidly changing tourist demands after COVID-19 by supporting data-driven tourism policy formulation.
According to the results of the ‘Jeju Visitor Tourist Movement Pattern Big Data Analysis Study,’ Jeju Tourism Organization expects that the Jeju-type tourism quarantine system will be more effectively established and operated through the real-time tourist site congestion analysis service, just as they have built and managed COVID-19 quarantine clusters centered on eight key clusters: ▲Jeju International Airport ▲Hamdeok Beach ▲Seongsan Ilchulbong/Seopjikoji ▲Pyoseon Beach ▲Seogwipo City Old Downtown ▲Jungmun Tourist Complex ▲Hyeopjae/Geumnung Beach ▲Gwakji/Handam Beach.
