Wando County and Yongin City Take First Step Toward Joint Prosperity
Signing of Sisterhood Agreement for Mutual Growth and Shared Prosperity

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 10th that it signed a sisterhood agreement with Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do at the Wando-gun Office Situation Room on the 9th, agreeing to cooperate for mutual development and shared prosperity based on mutual trust and friendship.
The signing ceremony was held with the attendance of about 20 people, including Shin Woo-cheol, Governor of Wando-gun, Baek Gun-gi, Mayor of Yongin, Heo Gung-hee, Chairman of Wando-gun Council, Lee Je-nam, Chair of the Urban Construction Committee of Yongin City Council, Yang Gwang-yong, President of the Jaegwang Wando-gun Hometown Association, and other hometown members.
Both cities agreed to cooperate by utilizing their excellent resources in various fields such as administration, economy, tourism, culture, and arts.
Shin Woo-cheol, Governor of Wando-gun, said, “I am very honored and pleased to take the first step as partners for coexistence and prosperity by forming a sisterhood with Yongin-si, which has established itself as a central city in Gyeonggi-do,” adding, “We will make great efforts to achieve mutual development through broad exchanges in the future.”
In response, Baek Gun-gi, Mayor of Yongin, said, “I am very hopeful to form a sisterhood and promote exchanges with Wando-gun, which has excellent marine resources and seafood and high development potential,” and added, “I hope to promote various exchange projects that leverage the strengths of both cities to grow together.”
Meanwhile, Lee Je-nam, a member of the Yongin City Council from Gogeum-myeon, Wando-gun, who attended the ceremony, donated 50 million won through the Gyeonggi Social Welfare Community Chest, designated to help low-income families in his hometown.
Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, with a population exceeding one million and possessing a large market and excellent tourism resources, is one of the central cities of Gyeonggi-do. Wando-gun expects that the sisterhood with Yongin-si will have a positive impact on increasing residents’ income and regional development, such as expanding the promotion of agricultural and specialty products.
