"Resolving Curiosities on Restoring the Four Major Rivers' Natural State"…Ministry of Environment Holds Online Seminar
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Ministry of Environment will hold the 'Seminar on Understanding the Restoration of the Four Major Rivers' Naturalness' online four times from the 11th of this month to the 9th of next month.
The topics for each session will be ▲Opening of the Four Major Rivers' Weirs, How Far Have We Come? ▲Will Opening the Weirs Really Restore the Rivers? ▲How to Restore the Naturalness of Geumgang and Yeongsangang? ▲How to Restore the Naturalness of Hangang and Nakdonggang?, in that order.
The event will be held non-face-to-face considering the COVID-19 situation and will be broadcast live through online channels from 2 p.m. on the day. You can participate by searching for 'Investigation and Evaluation Team for the Restoration of the Four Major Rivers' Naturalness' on YouTube.
Jae-jeong Ma, head of the opening team of the Ministry of Environment's Four Major Rivers Investigation and Evaluation Team, will present on the topic 'Current Status of Opening the Four Major Rivers' Weirs,' and Yong-cheol Kim, head of the Groundwater Research Center at the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, will present 'Analysis of Groundwater Impact and Mitigation Measures through Understanding River-Aquifer Interaction.'
Additionally, Sang-gyu Jang, head of the Pumping Station Relocation Installation Promotion Team at the Korea Rural Community Corporation, will present on 'Current Status and Measures for Pumping Station Facility Improvement.'
Professor Sae-young Ham (Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences, Pusan National University), advisory committee member Sang-gi Seo (National Water Management Committee), director Chan-jin Lee (Groundwater Water Circulation Department, Korea Water Resources Corporation), and secretary-general Eun-young Park (Daejeon Chungnam Green Federation) will participate in the discussion.
