Gwanak-gu Selected as the Top District in Seoul Eco-Mileage Evaluation
Selected as an Award-Winning District for 5 Consecutive Times Through Active Promotion of Energy Saving and Voluntary Participation of Residents... Various Efforts Including Eco Mileage, Solar Panel Installation Support, and Building Energy Efficiency Projects
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) has been selected as the best district in the ‘2020 Second Half Seoul Eco Mileage Autonomous District Evaluation’ for spreading a citizen culture of energy saving, achieving the remarkable feat of winning for the fifth consecutive time.
Eco Mileage is a compound word of eco (environmentally friendly) and mileage (accumulation), a citizen participation program that responds to climate change by reducing greenhouse gases through voluntary reductions in energy use such as electricity, city gas, and water in households and businesses.
This evaluation comprehensively assessed 25 autonomous districts in Seoul over six months from April to September this year, based on seven criteria including ▲new member registration ▲interest of institution heads ▲member information management ▲promotion activities.
The district actively promoted Eco Mileage enrollment by operating energy-saving promotion booths at various events and running energy-saving practice villages, especially receiving high scores in recruiting group members and energy saving in multi-family housing, leading to its selection as the best district.
Meanwhile, besides Eco Mileage, the district is carrying out various projects for energy saving such as supporting mini solar panel installations, creating cool roofs, and building energy efficiency projects.
