Heo Seok, Mayor of Suncheon, Makes Final Efforts to Secure Next Year's National Budget
Visit by Assemblymen So Byeong-cheol and Seo Dong-yong, Request to Reflect Increased Budget Projects in the National Assembly
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] On the 6th, Heo Seok, mayor of Suncheon, visited the National Assembly and met directly with members of the National Assembly So Byung-chul, Seo Dong-yong, Lee Won-wook, Kim Seung-nam, Kim Hoe-jae, and Heo Young to explain next year's National Assembly budget increase projects and actively requested cooperation to ensure they are reflected during the National Assembly review process.
During the meeting, Mayor Heo explained the necessity and urgency of government support for infrastructure development for the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo (total project cost 46.7 billion KRW, national funding 7.1 billion KRW), the need for exhibition hosting and operating expenses for the successful holding of the 2021 NEXPO in Suncheon (total project cost 2.8 billion KRW, national funding 0.8 billion KRW), the urgency of the expansion construction of the Suncheon City municipal solid waste landfill (total project cost 3.7 billion KRW, national funding 1.1 billion KRW), and the necessity of the sewer pipeline maintenance project in Seomyeon Seonpyeong Village (total project cost 4 billion KRW, national funding 2.8 billion KRW), proposing these four projects.
Member of the National Assembly So Byung-chul said, “I will focus all capabilities and do my best to ensure that all four Suncheon City budget increase projects pass through the standing committee and the budget committee and are reflected.” Seo Dong-yong said, “We will actively respond from the standing committee stage and make every effort to secure the final budget by passing the standing committee and being submitted to the budget committee.”
To secure the budget for the National Assembly budget increase projects, on the 29th of last month, Im Chae-young, deputy mayor of Suncheon, visited the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s budget department to explain the National Assembly budget increase projects, and on the 2nd, Mayor Heo Seok met with Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, conducting a final all-out effort.
