Gwangju-Jeonnam Small and Medium Business Administration Hosts Welcome to TIPS Honam Region Event
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration announced on the 6th that it will hold the '2020 Welcome to TIPS' Honam region event at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center on the 12th.
Hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, this event is held to create connections between startup companies wishing to participate in TIPS and attract investment, and TIPS operators, in order to expand opportunities to participate in the TIPS program.
TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startup) is a program that selects startup teams using private operators such as successful venture entrepreneurs, linking private investment and government R&D support to promote entrepreneurship by professionals.
The '2020 Welcome to TIPS' event is held in four regions. It was held regionally in Busan (Southeast region) in September, Daejeon (Gangwon and Chungcheong region), and Daegu (Yeongnam region) in October, and this Gwangju event is the fourth.
At the Honam region event, where 27 TIPS operators participate, 10 companies selected through prior document screening will participate in IR pitching, and three excellent startup teams will be awarded the Regional Small and Medium Business Administration Award and prize money.
In addition, excellent startup teams will be provided with a service product that allows them to have their business plans reviewed by desired investors, and the top startup team will have the opportunity to present at the nationwide 'Grand TIPS'.

Lee Hyun-jo, head of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Small and Medium Business Administration, said, "Due to the spread of COVID-19, startups have not had many opportunities to gather in one place and network with investors," adding, "Through this event, we hope that local startups will grow into key players in domestic innovation growth through exchanges with TIPS operators."
