Kiwoom Securities Launches New ELS Products
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Kiwoom Securities announced on the 5th that it has launched five types of ELS (Equity-Linked Securities) with various underlying assets and structures, expanding investors' choices to include US stocks, domestic stocks, and global stock indices.
ELS are financial investment products based on stock indices or stocks as underlying assets, which are redeemed with profits if the underlying asset prices meet predetermined conditions, and incur losses if the conditions are not met.
The newly structured "91st New Global 100 Trillion ELS" is a medium-risk, maturity profit participation product with a one-year maturity and a maximum loss limited to -20%. It features an additional early redemption opportunity after 6 months, which differentiates it from previous products. The underlying assets are Netflix and Samsung Electronics common stock. If the prices of both underlying assets on the early redemption evaluation date are at least 100% of the initial reference price, a pre-tax return of 12% (annualized 24%) is paid and the product is redeemed early.
If early redemption does not occur, profits or losses will be realized based on the maturity evaluation date prices. If the maturity evaluation prices of both underlying assets are at least 100% of the initial reference prices, a minimum pre-tax return of 24% is paid. If the price of the reference underlying asset (the one with the lower increase rate or greater decrease rate among the two underlying assets) rises by 24% or more compared to the initial price on the maturity evaluation date, the return is paid according to the increase. There is no cap on the maximum return. If the maturity evaluation price of the reference underlying asset is between 90% and less than 100% of the initial reference price, the return is 0%, and only the principal is paid at maturity. If it is below 90%, losses ranging from -10% up to a maximum of -20% may occur.
Kiwoom’s "90th New Global 100 Trillion ELS" is a step-down product with a one-year maturity and early redemption opportunities every three months. The underlying assets consist of two stocks: Tesla (Nasdaq ticker: TSLA) and Nvidia (Nasdaq ticker: NVDA).
Additionally, there is one ELS composed of three stock indices: S&P 500, EuroStoxx 50, and KOSPI 200, and two ELS products including major domestic stocks such as Samsung Electronics, KB Financial Group, and LG Household & Health Care, making a total of five products currently on sale.
