What Is the Secret Behind Yangcheon-gu's 3rd Place Ranking in Administrative Service Quality Index Among Seoul's 25 Districts?

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) ranked 3rd among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul in the ‘2020 Service Quality Index (KS-SQI)’ survey conducted by the Korea Standards Association, proving the high satisfaction of residents with administrative services.
The public sector KS-SQI is a measurement model developed by the Korea Standards Association in 2006, reflecting the characteristics of the public service industry and consumers. It surveys and announces the level of satisfaction with service quality and serves as a comprehensive indicator of the overall quality level of public services.
This survey conducted by the Korea Standards Association targeted a total of 47 local governments, including 25 autonomous districts in Seoul and 22 autonomous local governments in Incheon and Gyeonggi with populations over 300,000.
Among 300 residents aged 20 to 50 who had used Yangcheon-gu administrative services at least once in the past six months, satisfaction was measured through an internet panel survey in nine categories: ▲Core service (providing desired administrative services) ▲Publicness (fair handling of tasks) ▲Kindness (courtesy, politeness, individual attention and consideration) ▲Proactiveness (prompt response, accurate notification of progress) ▲Reliability (accurate handling of requested tasks, provision of administrative services within promised time) ▲Appropriateness (proper handling of tasks) ▲Accessibility (ease of visit, waiting time for civil complaints reception) ▲Convenience ▲Pleasantness.
The survey results showed that the average score of the 25 districts in Seoul was 68.7 points, and Yangcheon-gu scored 70.8 points, 2.1 points higher than the average, ranking 3rd among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul.
This is a sharp rise of 8 ranks compared to last year’s 11th place.

Mayor Kim Soo-young said, “This evaluation is especially meaningful because it was made based on direct assessments from residents who experienced Yangcheon-gu’s administrative services,” and added, “It is the result of the efforts made by Yangcheon-gu public officials to ensure that residents can feel the services. We will continue to enhance administrative trust through fair and proactive task handling.”
