'Naegajukdeonnal' Kim Hye-soo "Felt Warm Solidarity Like the Movie's Message"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actress Kim Hyesu said she felt a sense of solidarity through the film Naega Juddeon Nal (The Day I Died).
On the afternoon of the 4th, a press screening of the movie Naega Juddeon Nal was held at CGV Yongsan in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Actress Kim Hyesu, Lee Jeongeun, Noh Jeongui, and director Park Jiwan attended the event.
On this day, Kim Hyesu recalled, “Before reading the script, I was captivated by the title. I felt it was a fateful movie. As I read the script, I had a feeling that it was a story I absolutely had to tell, though I didn’t know why. I think I was also desperately in need of comfort at that time.”
Kim Hyesu said, “I had many conversations with the director, and during filming, we frequently exchanged opinions and suggested improvements. Including Hyunsu, I thought the most important thing for most characters was truth. We considered all possible settings and calculable elements. We tried to exclude anything artificial as much as possible.”
She continued, “Everyone has wounds. I also had painful parts, and while working through the script with the director, I suggested emotions or situations I had actually experienced. I think there were frustrations and wounds that couldn’t be revealed. My heart naturally went there, and through the actors I met while filming and acting, I received a lot of comfort. Like the message of the film, I felt a warm solidarity.”
Kim Hyesu also said, “Through this work, I truly met and discovered colleagues who are as precious and wonderful as jewels. I feel like I gained valuable friends, and just that alone is a great fortune and blessing.”
Naega Juddeon Nal tells the story of a girl who disappeared off a cliff leaving only a suicide note, a detective investigating the case at the edge of life, and a silent witness who reached out to them, each making their own choices to survive. The film will be released on November 12.
