KT Shares Kimchi-Making Online... Conveying Warmth 'Contactlessly'
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT held an online kimchi-making sharing event for underprivileged neighbors in celebration of the kimjang season.
According to KT on the 4th, the 'Online Kimchi-Making Sharing' event was a non-face-to-face social contribution activity where the main studio in Gwanghwamun and the homes of 100 employees each made kimchi in different locations using KT's self-developed non-face-to-face online education video service.
KT has held kimchi-making events for underprivileged groups every year, but this year, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, it was replaced with a non-face-to-face method.
At the main studio set up at KT Square Dream Hall in Jongno-gu, Seoul, star chef Shin Hyo-seop and comedian Jung Jong-cheol appeared to explain how to make kimchi. Employees followed the chef’s recipe from their own homes and asked questions in real time about any unclear parts.
Prior to the event, KT delivered kimchi-making material kits containing 10kg of salted napa cabbage, seasoning ingredients, and cooking utensils to employee volunteers the day before. This volunteer activity included employees from the headquarters, business departments, and various regional headquarters nationwide. Employee volunteers were selected by lottery through applications on the company bulletin board.
The kimchi made through the online kimchi-making event will be delivered the next day to underprivileged neighbors nationwide, including Seoul, Daegu, Daejeon, Busan, and Gangwon.
