Gwangju Global Motors Holds On-site Briefing for 14 Shareholder Companies
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangju Global Motors (GGM) announced that on the morning of the 3rd at 10 a.m., it held an on-site briefing session at the Bitgreen Industrial Complex factory construction site with shareholders in attendance.
The on-site briefing was attended by 23 people, including Kim Deok-mo, Director of the Gwangju Green Car Promotion Agency, and representatives of 14 shareholder companies from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions. They received explanations on the current status of factory construction, equipment installation, and labor-management cooperative operation plans, and inspected the construction site.
At 3:30 p.m. that day, about 20 labor representatives, including Jo In-cheol, Deputy Mayor for Culture and Economy of Gwangju Metropolitan City, and Yoon Jong-hae, Chairman of the Korean Federation of Trade Unions Gwangju Regional Headquarters, also visited the site.
They encouraged the on-site workers and expressed their commitment to actively promote regional economic revitalization and job creation.
A GGM official said, “Currently, the factory construction progress rate is 68% overall, with 88.9% for the body shop, 88.9% for the paint shop, and 81.7% for the assembly shop in terms of building construction. Equipment installation is also progressing smoothly, so we plan to start trial operation in February next year, test production in April, and begin mass production of finished vehicles in September.”
He added, “During the factory construction process, we actively cooperated with the construction company, and 62.3% of the subcontracted construction payments (direct construction costs) involve local companies.”
Kim Sik, CEO of Jigeumgang and a GGM shareholder, said, “We will not spare interest and support so that GGM can succeed by catching two rabbits: regional economic revitalization and local job creation through labor-management coexistence and harmony.”
