[AK Poll] Ruling Party Seoul Mayor Candidate Suitability, Park Young-sun and Park Ju-min 'Neck and Neck'
[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] If the Democratic Party candidate is elected as the next mayor of Seoul, the figures most hoped for by Seoul citizens were Minister of SMEs and Startups Park Young-sun and Assemblyman Park Joo-min.
According to a poll conducted by Asia Economy through Win-G Korea Consulting from the 1st to 2nd targeting 1,000 Seoul citizens aged 18 and over (100% mobile phone, automated response), in the survey on 'Suitability of Democratic Party Seoul mayoral candidates,' Minister Park received 13.6%, and Assemblyman Park received 10.3%. They were followed by Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae (7.7%), former Presidential Secretary Im Jong-seok (6.6%), Assemblyman Woo Sang-ho (4.5%), and Assemblyman Jung Chung-rae (3.6%).
However, 'Don't know/No response' accounted for nearly half (48.8%), indicating a high possibility of change. The difference in support rates among Minister Park, Assemblyman Park, and Minister Choo was also not large, about 3 percentage points each.
The age groups supporting Minister Park were highest among those in their 30s and 50s, both at 15.1%, followed by 18-29 years old (14.2%), 40s (14%), 60s (11.2%), and 70s (10.7%). The support base for Assemblyman Park was highest among those in their 40s at 17.3%, followed by 18-29 years old (14.1%), 30s (13.1%), 50s (7.8%), and 60s (5%). Regionally, Minister Park had the highest support in the southwestern (15.2%) and northwestern (15%) areas, while Assemblyman Park had the highest support in the central (13.3%) and northeastern (11.9%) areas.
In the party primary to run as the Seoul mayoral candidate, it was analyzed that Minister Park and Assemblyman Park are most likely to compete against each other. Among respondents who stated they support the Democratic Party, Minister Park had the highest support rate at 25.1%, and Assemblyman Park had 20.7%. In the citizen suitability survey, Minister Choo (12.9%) and former Secretary Im (12.4%), who did not have a large gap, had support rates among Democratic Party supporters that fell below half.
The 'pro-government coalition party support rate,' which is likely to support the Democratic Party candidate, was divided. Among the Justice Party, classified as part of the pro-government coalition, 15.4% preferred Minister Park, and 12.3% supported Assemblyman Park. Others were Minister Choo (10.6%), former Secretary Im (11.3%), Assemblyman Woo (3.2%), and Assemblyman Jung (0%). On the other hand, the Open Democratic Party supporters most preferred Minister Choo (18.9%), with Minister Park at 17.5% and Assemblyman Park at 12.9%. Former Secretary Im's support rate was 11.4%, Assemblyman Woo's was 12.2%, and Assemblyman Jung's was 3.4%.

This survey was conducted among men and women aged 18 and over residing in Seoul Special City, with an overall response rate of 8.07%, totaling 1,000 respondents. The sample was extracted with weighting by gender, age, and region (cell weighting). The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
