On October 30, the ‘Busan Manufacturing Innovation Council,’ formed to enhance the manufacturing competitiveness of the Busan region, was held at 2 p.m. in the large conference room on the 2nd floor of the Minseok Memorial Hall at Gyeongnam Information University.
Kim Moon-hwan, head of the Busan Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, Shin Chang-ho, director of the Future Industry Bureau of Busan City, Choi Jong-yeol, president of Busan Technopark, Lim Jun-woo, director of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Group at Gyeongnam Information University, along with heads and staff from 13 institutions totaling over 40 attendees participated.
They reviewed the current status of smart factory construction support being promoted by related institutions in the Busan area and discussed ways to discover smart factory demand companies and establish a win-win cooperation system between large and medium-sized enterprises and cooperating small and medium enterprises.
Related organizations striving to discover smart factory demand companies, including the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Busan Venture Business Association, and the Innobiz Association Busan-Ulsan Branch, all participated, adding substance to the discussions.
The attendees also toured the Smart Factory Test-bed system located on the 5th and 6th floors of the 50th Anniversary Memorial Hall of Gyeongnam Information University. In response to the development of the manufacturing industry, the university established a Smart Factory Systems department and built the Smart Factory Test-bed system.
The Gyeongnam Information University Smart Factory Test-bed is organized by dividing the manufacturing process into supply process, manufacturing process, assembly process, and stacking process.
Automation work through robots is implemented to help on-site workers understand the knowledge and elemental technologies necessary for smart factory technology.
Additionally, control using controllers, logistics transfer via conveyors, and practical training in statistical quality control of products are possible. Education on elemental technologies such as robot systems, IoT sensors, PLCs, actuators, and operation data-based data management systems is also available, enabling systematic training of smart factory operation experts.
