Daegu City Expands Free Urban Rail Service for Multichild Families... All Children Under 18 Eligible
Additional Support for Children Aged 6-12 Starting from the 2nd... New Children's Exclusive Card Issued
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 1st that starting from the 2nd, it will newly issue a dedicated children's card to expand the 'Ijoa Card' urban railway free ride benefits to children aged 6 to 12 in multi-child families.
The Daegu Ijoa Card is a card provided by Daegu City to offer economic and cultural benefits to multi-child families with three or more children residing in Daegu, aiming to overcome low birth rates.
Until now, one of the main benefits of the card, the urban railway free ride benefit, was applied to parents of multi-child families whose youngest child is under 18 years old and to youths aged 13 to 18 holding an Ijoa Card in their own name. For children aged 6 to 12, the benefit could only be received if the card-holding parent accompanied them or if a separate verification was conducted at the urban railway to issue a preferential ticket.
Accordingly, Daegu City has resolved the inconvenience caused by the previous preferential ticket issuance by allowing users to simply tap the card at the urban railway entrance terminal to pass through, enabling convenient use of the urban railway free ride benefit. Card issuance is conducted at the health center with jurisdiction over the resident's address.
