Yoo Seung-min: "President Moon determined to ruin the nation's finances... Must drive out malignant populism"
"Many Citizens Suffocated by Severe Arrogance, Incompetence, and Dogmatism"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung-min criticized President Moon Jae-in's policy speech on the 28th, saying, "It was nothing but talk about spending more recklessly by borrowing with all the people's tax money and national debt," and added, "In short, there was no economic policy other than short-term stimulus measures that involve pumping money. It is clear that they are determined to ruin the national finances."
On the same day, Yoo said on Facebook, "Everything was just about spending several trillion won here and tens of trillions there," and "At the center of it is the Korean-style New Deal worth 160 trillion won, but no one in this government knows what it actually does, as revealed in the recent national audit."
He pointed out, "The president's policy speech to the National Assembly is a place to report state affairs to the people and seek their consent. Listening to the president's speech, which boasts about the 'miraculous defense' and success in quarantine and the economy, one might be under the illusion that we are living happily in a hopeful country without any worries," adding, "From beginning to end, it was filled with rosy views, and the sighs and groans of countless people struggling to make ends meet today were not heard at all."
He continued, "Despite a series of illegal and corrupt incidents turning the core of the regime into a criminal group, there was not a single voice of self-reflection. Those who claimed to have participated in the democratization movement are trampling democracy more than during the military dictatorship, yet there was no shameful voice of remorse," and criticized, "Denuclearization has disappeared, and there was no reflection from the leader for deceiving the people for three and a half years with fake peace that submits to North Korea."
Former lawmaker Yoo said, "There was only talk about 'considering fiscal soundness,' but words like fiscal deficit, national debt, and household debt were nowhere to be found. They are spending 555.8 trillion won, but they do not even report to the people how much more debt they will pile up," and sharply criticized, "Ordinary people do not manage their household accounts like this."
Yoo added, "When I heard the words 'We will early stabilize the three lease laws,' many people must have been suffocated by this terrible arrogance, incompetence, and dogmatism. The lease laws passed solely by the Democratic Party should be reconsidered from scratch in this National Assembly, but they are stubbornly insisting in front of the people," and stated, "The homeless common people are suffering severely from the jeonse and monthly rent crisis, and homeowners are only worried about taxes due to property tax, comprehensive real estate tax, and capital gains tax, but the president did not try to understand this reality at all. Are the people in the Blue House living in a different world?"

Yoo concluded, "Today, we saw a president who has lost the ability to empathize with the people. This regime has already given up on reforms to create a bright future and a better world for this country and has entered the path of malignant populism," and said, "Someone must stand up against the populism that ruins the country, the hypocrisy and incompetence of power, and lead the people on the right path. We must unite our strength to drive out malignant populism and ensure this country goes on the right path."
