The Suwon Southern Police Station in Gyeonggi announced on the 27th that the post about selling a child on Danggeun Market was confirmed to be false.
According to the police, a female middle school student, A, posted a listing titled "Selling a child" on Danggeun Market at around 4:30 PM that day. The post reportedly included content such as "(The child) eats all the food left by family members and is strong," and "The child is affectionate and needs to be well cared for." The desired selling price was 3 million won.
The police tracked the user's residential area on the site to identify the poster, and the investigation revealed that A secretly took a photo of her own face using her older sister's high school phone and posted the listing as a prank. The post has since been deleted.
Earlier, on the 16th, two photos of a baby wrapped in a blanket were posted on the same site with the title "Adopting a child. 36 weeks old," causing controversy. The desired selling price was 200,000 won. Following the controversy, the police confirmed through IP tracking that the poster was a single mother in her 20s. The woman gave birth to the baby on the 13th, at 36 weeks of pregnancy, and then posted the listing.
